The family of a man who died in a St Helens car crash say he was “an amazing brother and grandad” and his death has “left a hole in their family that can never be filled”.
Leslie Pearce, 64, died on December 25, six days after his Ford Fiesta collided with a black van, where both drivers stopped and appeared to have no serious injuries.
At around 5.50pm on Thursday, December 19, it was reported that a red Ford Fiesta and a black Ford Transit towing a white box trailer were involved in a collision on Burrows Lane.
Leslie then self-admitted to hospital on December 24, where he passed away the following day.
In a tribute, his family said: “My dad was the best dad a girl could ever wish for. His death has left a hole in our family that can never be filled. He was an amazing brother and grandad. He was kind and caring and always there if he was ever needed.”
Police have launched an investigation into his seemingly sudden death and are “determined” to get answers for the family and have appealed for any locals with information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit says that any piece of information is useful at this stage: “I understand that an off-duty technician from the Ambulance Service may have stopped to assist, and I would be grateful if they could make contact with our team so that we can obtain information from them.”
He also said that any CCTV or dashcam footage would prove invaluable at this point.
