Legendary singer-songwriter Billy Ocean has been unveiled as the headliner for the highly anticipated Salt and Tar musical event, set to take place next summer. The event, named after the historic maritime heritage of its host location, promises an unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and community.

The Salt and Tar festival will be held in a custom-built waterfront venue, offering a unique blend of live performances, food, and activities inspired by the coastal history of the area. Billy Ocean, known for global hits like “Caribbean Queen”, “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going”, and “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car,” will bring his soulful energy and timeless classics to the stage as the main act.

Billy Ocean’s career has spanned more than four decades, earning him Grammy and MOBO awards and a reputation as one of the most beloved British artists. With over 30 million records sold worldwide, his inclusion as the headliner is a significant draw for the festival.

Organizers have promised a diverse line-up featuring local and international artists alongside Billy Ocean. They aim to honour the area’s rich maritime history while providing entertainment for audiences of all ages. In addition to live music, attendees can look forward to workshops, artisanal food markets, and storytelling sessions inspired by coastal traditions.

Event director Rachel Thompson expressed her excitement: “Having a global icon like Billy Ocean headline Salt and Tar is a dream come true. His music resonates with so many people, and his presence will make the festival truly memorable.

“This is a celebration of culture, history, and community, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

Tickets for Salt and Tar are set to go on sale later this month, with early bird discounts available. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities supporting maritime conservation and community development.
