A resolution has been reached between the NHS and hospital staff, including porters, cleaners and caterers at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, avoiding any further disruption to patient care.
Strikes were planned for two weeks, starting from November 18, after members of the GMB union missed out on a lump sum payment because they weren’t directly employed by the NHS.
An agreement to pay the bonus to more than 130 NHS workers was made fairly quickly after the strikes launched.
A spokesperson for NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group said: “We are pleased to be able to provide our colleagues with the outcome they sought and would like to thank all partners involved in finding this resolution.
Throughout this dispute we have been keen to value and recognise the important contributions our colleagues make towards patient care.”
