In the Lady Chapel of Liverpool Cathedral a music recital consisting of the piano, flute and in other seasons guitar takes place on fridays.
The event is free to attend but donations are encouraged to support music programmes at the cathedral such as the children’s choir, school singing programme and GCSE and A level students.
Stephen Mannings, Director of music and piano player at the Cathedral, said: “We are giving a flute and piano recital as part of our liturgy and music foundation recital series. Our liturgy and music foundation is our way at the cathedral of supporting and embracing all we do musically.”
Neal Barnes, Clergy and flute player at the cathedral, said: “I think it is brilliant that the liturgy and music festival enables children to have access to music and the arts. Also a new friendship circle, they make friends and develop skills for life so I am really pleased to be supporting this, in what is a free concert but we ask people to donate if they can to the foundation.”
