This wasn’t your stereotypical jolly Christmas market – instead it was a horror Christmas market!

Held at the city’s Liner Hotel on Sunday, the horror-themed Christmas market was organised by Liverpool Horror Club. The market had a room full of a horror fanatic’s dream, with 50 independent businesses who specialise in the darker side of things, selling handmade items related to the genre.

There was even a section where you could meet Santa – except it wasn’t Santa as we know him, of course. It was Art the Clown from the Terrorizer franchise dressed in a Santa Claus costume. It was both comedic and horrifying, although the children queueing to see him didn’t mind the .

Liverpool Horror Club said: “We believe that children and adults alike deserve a wonderful joyously jolly grotto experience.

“We will summon a Spirit of Xmas by casting runes, lighting candles, sacrificing elves.

“Once this personification inhabits the grotto, you shall be able to visit them in their lair and make a Christmas wish – and receive a rubbish present!”

The markets were selling custom-made jewellery which attracted a lot of people and had a queue for these stalls that reached all the way to the exit door.

Nicola Earley, 42, said: “I’m very happy with all my purchases, all are so original and unique, and I love it. The market is so cool and the vision they had to this was fabulous and all sorts of people are here, everyone enjoys horror and witchcraft and their just here with their children to buy cool stuff.”

“The best mix of a jolly, horror Christmas market.”
