The rise of content creators across Liverpool has seen a significant increase in recent years.
With the growth of social media platforms like TikTok, many Liverpudlians have found a niche and become incredibly successful with thousands of followers – these creators include Iwan Steffan, Katie Newall, and James Foley.
Iwan is a freelance content creator and TV presenter based in Liverpool.
Their work, which centres around the supernatural and a spiritual lifestyle, has amassed nearly 200,000 followers across social media platforms, alongside nearly 5m likes on TikTok alone.
They are famous for their viral Bold Street “time slip” videos on TikTok, recounting uncanny tales of experiencing the sensation of being transported back in time.
We chatted to Iwan, Katie, and James on the MerseyNewsLive podcast today and discussed their recent rise to fame and transition from novices to TikTok sensations.
Iwan said: “I moved to Liverpool about 15 years ago with absolutely nothing. In lockdown I went to Newsham Park Hospital for a walk, filmed a video, and woke up the next morning and it was on three million views.
“Then I thought ‘This is what I need to do’.”
Soon after Iwan’s video went viral they gained over 20,000 followers and became a full-time content creator for over 40 bars and restaurants in Liverpool. They are also a radio presenter and someone who performs reiki to clients.
Last weekend the Welsh children’s TV show Ser Stelio, which is presented by Iwan, won a BAFTA. The show sees children ages between 8-12 from Wales compete to be crowned the nation’s best junior stylist.

Katie Newell is quite new to the scene and is great friends with Iwan. After years of suffering with chronic pain, she was diagnosed with Loin Pain Haematuria Syndrome which is a rare condition that causes pain in the loins or flanks.
A lot of Katie’s content centres around trying to raise awareness for her condition in the hopes to build a community and support group for people who suffer with the same condition.
Katie has also appeared on the ‘Diary Of A Kidney Warrior Podcast’, where she discusses her condition and diagnoses journey. Katie’s social media handle is @mizz_scouse.
James Foley rose to fame over five years ago when he created a TikTok video complaining about the L1 Phone Clinic in Liverpool.
The video achieved millions of views and James became an internet sensation overnight and continued to make videos with his now ex-partner, Sean.
He went viral once again with the iconic ‘spooning leads to forking’ video which became a very popular catchphrase.
Today James works as a social media influencer and club and festival promoter and has nearly 100,000 followers across social media platforms.
He has recently released an album on Spotify which is called ‘JAMES FOLEY (My First Album’. He is also releasing a Christmas Album called ‘The Fairy-tale of Speke Retail Park’. James’ social media handle is @be_james_be_good.
