Phil Shaw, marketing director at the British Indian Good Food Guide, said: “Indian restaurants are no longer just places for a night out—they’re cultural landmarks, representing the diversity and vibrancy of British food culture.”
Born in Ormskirk, Nisa Katona, the founder, CEO, executive and development chef of Mowgli, first opened the branch in Liverpool’s Bold Street, and has now gone on to expand across the UK. Nisa aims to enrich lives in the cities people travel to, by creating jobs in a nourishing workplace, giving back to local communities through charitable giving and spreading the love of an Indian home kitchen.
According to its website: “Mowgli is about the smash and grab zing of healthy, light, virtuosic herbs and spices. The simple dishes on the Mowgli menu are cooked fresh in each restaurant every morning. The aromas floating down the road should tell you all you need to know about us truly being your neighbourhood Indian home kitchen.”
As well as providing traditional Indian delicacies across the country, Mowgli also founded the Mowgli Trust, a charity which donates more than £500k to local community charities and international causes, creating lasting change and enriching lives. The trust relies on “the kindness and generosity of our guests, who donate each year to help us support children, families and communities all over the world.”
