The Royal Philharmonic has announced six new musicians have been added to the orchestra.

The Orchestra is set to kick off its 2024-25 season at Philharmonic Hall on Thursday, 17 October, under the direction of Chief Conductor Domingo Hindoyan.

The concert will feature Mahler’s First Symphony, Juan Bautista Plaza’s Vigilia, and Strauss’ Four Last Songs, with acclaimed German soprano Sarah Wegener as a special guest.

New musicians will be joining the orchestra such as, Fábio Brum as Section Leader Trumpet, Miquel Ramos Salvadó as Section Leader Clarinet, Nadia Debono as Associate Principal Viola, Peter Liang as No.4 1st Violin, and Anna Crawford and Angus McCall in the Cello section.

We spoke to some of the new musicians to see how they felt being part of the new Philharmonic orchestra.

Fábio Brum said: “I am delighted an honoured to accept the position as section leader trumpet…I am very grateful for this opportunity…. I am very much looking forward to starting my job here in this beautiful and iconic city.”

Miquel Ramos Salvadó said: “There are few moments when things happen in an organic and pleasant way. When that happens, one feels fascinated and grateful. Being part of the Orchestra is certainly one of these moments.

Anna Crawford said: “I’m very excited to play alongside such inspiring musicians and to join this wonderful cello section.”

Angus McCall said: “Since my first rehearsal with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra I’ve been spellbound by the quality of musicianship and the friendliness and openness of this orchestra.”

The Royal Philharmonic was recently refurbished and this will be the first concert in the finished building.

Nadia Debono said: “I can’t wait to step in the newly refurbished Philharmonic Hall, being part of this new family! I’m very honoured and lucky!”
