Liverpool has been crowned the second most Irish location in the world, following Boston in the U.S.

Factors such as the number of Irish pubs in each city, the percentage of Irish cuisine offered in restaurants and how much of the population belonged to that of Irish descent all contributed to the research and its findings.  

Over 25 cities were analysed as part of the study with Boston coming on top as it is seen as the Republic’s ‘home away from home’.

Liverpool took second place due to its annual Irish festival, and in third place came New York with 133 traditional Irish restaurants.

Irish culture has taken on a major global influence with its traditions being inspirational all over the world. This is especially true in Liverpool, with its history of being a major centre for Irish immigrants.  

For 10 days each October Liverpool host the Liverpool Irish Festival to influence the connectivity of both cities, that includes events all around the city.

Data found 10 Irish pubs per capita, making Liverpool the second highest globally in this factor.

Liverpool’s Irish bars are seen as some of the best nights out in town, a few favourites include Shenanigans, McCooley’s, Fitzgerald’s and Dirty O’Sheas.

The pubs and eateries also serving classic Irish dishes such as Irish stew and colcannon.
