National Museums in Liverpool are holding a range of events to celebrate black lives, spread across the World Museum, Museum of Liverpool, and the Maritime Museum.
The series of events, part of Black History Month, include ‘Inspirational Black Scousers’ – a guided tour around the Museum of Liverpool demonstrating some of the inspirational names within the city’s history.
Chris Kerfoot, manager of the tour, said: “Black History is an important part of Liverpool’s culture.
“Our guided tour is a great way of showcasing and educating people about the key figures of Liverpool’s past.
“This is not just our museum, it’s everyone’s museum.”
He added: “We celebrate black lives all year round, but make sure to put a spotlight on them in October.”
The museum curators are consistently changing parts to allow it to stay updated – especially with the prevalence of the Black Lives Matter movement in the past few years.
The Museum of Liverpool has won the most family-friendly award twice in the UK.
Chris said: “It is vital that everyone is included in our museum”.
The free guided tours are taking place at 11am and 1.30pm on 1, 2, 8, 10, 16, 17 and 23 October.
