As Liverpool gear up for Pride in Liverpool this summer, a special guest has been announced as this year’s headline act.

Former Eurovision winner, Katrina, formerly of Katrina and the Waves, will perform on the main stage at the world-famous Liverpool Waterfront on the 27th July.

Known for her work as lead singer of Katrina and the Waves, they won the Eurovision song contest for the UK in 1997 with a rendition of ‘Love Shine A Light’.

She is famous for such hits as ‘Walking on Sunshine’ and ‘Going Down to Liverpool’.

Pride in Liverpool organisers confirmed Katrina’s headline performance as well as the rest of the day’s programme will be free to attend.

Katrina said: “It’s a great honour to be asked to headline Pride in Liverpool. I had a fantastic time performing many shows in Liverpool during Eurovision week last year and was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and welcoming kindness of Liverpudlians. So I am delighted to be returning to Liverpool.”

“It’s a city with such a rich musical history, and of course as the party capital of the UK it’s perfect for Pride 2024. And I will be there celebrating with all of you, full of joyful pride and Love will Shine A Light.”

Pride in Liverpool is an annual festival of LGBTQ culture that is set to take place in Liverpool on the 27th July.
