A decision is expected later today on whether proposals for a controversial housing scheme near Alder Hey children’s hospital will get the green light.

Nearly 500 objections have been lodged against the plans to build a hundred homes, as well as an online petition with 1,300 signatures.

Among those who oppose the proposal is the Ronald McDonald House charity, who says it will disrupt the privacy of families of sick children.

Manchester based company ‘Step Places’ plan to build over 31 homes, 59 retirement units, and eight autism assisted living units.

Local councillor Joanne Kennedy told the BBC:

“The proposed development will mean families of severely ill children will be subject to unwanted noise and overbearing buildings in the vicinity.”

Councillors will meet later this afternoon to decide if the plans will go ahead.
