People living in the six boroughs of the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, Wirral and Halton), have a choice of five candidates to vote for their next mayor on May 2. Here’s everything you need to know about Rob McAllister.

Rob McAllister Bell describes himself as an openly gay and disabled man passionate about Liverpool.

Rob grew up in Walton, attended Alsop High School, and worked as a trolley collector at Sainsbury on Rice Lane, eventually rising to store manager.

“I am a working-class lad from Walton, and for me, the Lib Dems embody our values as a city.”

Rob wants to:

End rough sleeping and homelessness in the City Region:

  • Lobbying the Government to provide more power and resources to the Combined Authority to help tackle homelessness.
  • Rob wants to provide temporary free public transport for those presenting homeless at the council to help them attend house viewings and get the kids to school.
  • He wants to build new council houses and cut waiting lists.

  • Rob wants Local control of buses to restore lost bus routes.
  • Wants to expand the Mersey Rail route across the region.
  • Wants to end the scandal of passengers being fined despite having an e-ticket.

Deliver health equality:

  • Work with the private sector to develop and grow Liverpool’s life sciences to become a world leader in healthcare.

  • Bringing Halton into the Merseyside Police Force and giving the PCC powers to the Metro Mayor, like Greater Manchester.
  • Putting the money saved back into the frontline, more bobbies on the beat.
  • With the power of the PCC, a Lib Dem Metro Mayor can implement a coordinated approach to regenerate the nighttime economy.

Build a green future for Liverpool’s next hundred years:
