Merseyside dog lovers are being urged to adopt a fun-loving dog called Alvin, who has spent 740 days in a rescue centre in Warrington.
Alvin has unfortunately earned the title of longest-staying RSPCA dog in England, and now hopes to be united with an affectionate and caring family.
The tan and white dog was first rescued by the RSPCA in 2022, suffering with untreated injuries caused by hunting.
He has since spent his days at the Warrington, Halton and St Helens shelter due to ongoing court proceedings, which resulted in Alvin being signed over to the RSPCA’s care in February.
Despite his troubling start to life, the four-year-old Lurcher is known to lead quite a luxurious lifestyle, with staff noting his tendency to kick back on the sofa and enjoy a cuddle with visitors.
Animal Care Manager Katie Buckley said: “Alvin has been in kennels half his life which is a long time for any animal. He’s only had one application since February but unfortunately it wasn’t quite right for him as he needs a garden and places to go out and explore.
“He’s a really gentle, happy and affectionate dog who loves human companionship and would really enjoy being part of family life.”
Those interested in giving Alvin a new home can visit the RSPCA website for more details.
