There is plenty on this festive season in Liverpool, with a range of magical events and experiences across the city to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Listed below are a range of activities to try out this year, whether you’re looking for something to do with the family, or to get into the swing of the party season with your friends.
The Light Before Christmas: The Manger
An immersive sound and light experience that transforms the interior of the Anglican Cathedral by award-winning artist collaboration Luxmuralis. The projections on the ceilings take you through the story of the nativity for a second year, after last year’s sell-out event became a Christmas favourite here in Liverpool.
It will run until December 8. Tickets are available here.
Liverpool ONE Light Trail
The trail is a free festive activity and takes about an hour. Your job is to follow the map around the Liverpool ONE area and tick off the 10 installations, displays, and characters hidden in the shop windows. Once you have ticked everything off, you can collect your stickers at the Information Centre. It is the perfect family activity to break up the Christmas shopping.
The trail map can be found here or the Information Centre on Wall Street.
Liverpool Christmas Markets
A classic Christmas activity, the markets surround St George’s Hall and greet you as you walk out the main doors at Lime Street Station, making it hard for visitors to miss. There are a range of illuminated stalls selling hand-crafted gifts, rides and games, and a number of bars and delicious food stalls- there is something for everyone!
The markets will run from November 18 to December 24, open from 11am-10pm.
Bar Hütte
The perfect place for a group get-together, Christmas parties, or just a drink to get you in the jolly spirit, the Alpine Après Ski-esque bar is located on Liverpool ONE’s Chavasse Park. This year you can expect Karaoke Hüttes, Wreath Making, Santa Claus Club, Christmas Movie Sundays, After School Club, and Toddler Sensory Mornings.
The bar will be open from the November 10-31, with varying opening times: Monday–Friday: 12pm-10.30pm; Saturday: 10am–11pm; Sunday: 10am–10.30pm; Christmas Eve: 12pm–8pm; Christmas Day: Closed; Boxing Day: 1pm–6pm; New Years Eve: 12pm-11pm.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, Cinderella
A modern-day twist on a classic tale, this is a must-see at the Everyman this Christmas. Sound-tracked with famous pop hits, the cast certainly know how to get the crowd going. It is safe to say to not expect the Cinderella story we all know, but a sassy, Scouse fairytale, perfect for families of all ages.
It will be on at the Everyman (Hope Street) from November 17-January 20. Tickets can be found here.
