After being the only tipster on the site to grab a winner last week thanks to Midnight Callisto, once again I am thrust into the limelight for today’s meetings.
Two meetings in the UK and two in Ireland keep the racing pretty constant this afternoon.
We start the day over in Galway on the flat course. The going is heavy for the 12:40 start, some intriguing races with Aidan O’Brien and Dermot Weld with quite a few runners, and a recent acquisition for the Jessica Harrington yard in the 1:10.
The next to begin is the opposite side of Ireland to the coastal town of Wexford, where they go National Hunt racing including the Listed race at 3:10. Unusually Robbie Power riding for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown on my NAP for the day.
Next up is the jumps meeting in western Scotland at Ayr. Brian Hughes takes up a few rides for Nicky Richards and Elliott has some runners ridden by champion Richard Johnson.
The only evening meeting today is in Kempton Park with a decent looking Class 3 handicap being the feature race. Some unraced 2-year-olds race in the 4:55 look very interesting from some powerful connections.
Here are my tips for today:
NAP: Champagne Classic – 3:10 Wexford
Robbie Power on board, and a winner at the Cheltenham Festival last term. Step up to listed company should not be a hindrance.
NB: Mr Caplan – 3:55 Ayr Gordon Elliott taking British bumpers by storm is not an unusual sight. Johnson takes the reins and this should go well enough.
EW: Yafordadoe – 2:55 Galway
Big field winner for Gavin Cromwell last time out, but a 9lb penalty has been halved through the appointment of apprentice Andrew Slattery taking a valuable 5lb off.
